Biocontrol

M2i has developed unique expertise in the design and production of pheromone-based biocontrol products. Biocontrol encompasses biological plant protection methods as an alternative to conventional chemical pesticides. Biocontrol is based on natural mechanisms for integrated pest management against crop pests. M2i is active in the field of green spaces, gardening, and of course agriculture; but we are also experts in the field of pheromones for animal biocontrol.

Innovative biocontrol solutions

Used alone or in combination with other plant protection methods, these solutions are based on managing pest population balances rather than their eradication. Our pheromones (as well as our kairomones or synomones) meet the ecological requirement of respecting the environment and biodiversity by integrating into agro-ecological approaches encouraged by public authorities in Europe and worldwide to massively reduce the use of conventional insecticides. Effective, respectful of biodiversity, without residues or microplastics, our finished products are bio-based and biodegradable.

Pheromone

Pheromones are natural substances secreted by insects to communicate with each other. They transmit information that triggers a specific reaction, such as gathering, reproducing, or warning of danger. We reproduce these pheromones in the laboratory as synthetic molecules through biomimicry, and then formulate them into products for crop protection.

Mating disruption

By diffusing these pheromones in the plots to be treated, we can trap, repel, or disorient pest insects, preventing their damage by eliminating or limiting the use of conventional pesticides. By placing pest pheromone diffusion points on the plot to be treated, male insects are prevented from locating their females. This is “sexual confusion”, thus preventing their reproduction, proliferation, and damage.
